2024 Winter Update: What Happened in 2024 and Future Plans of Mountain Top Explorium

It’s been an exciting start to 2024 at Mountain Top Explorium. From revamping our programs to expanding our team, we're paving the way for even more adventure and exploration in the months ahead. Click to read the Full 2024 Winter Update

After School, New Visitors, and More Programs

In January our after-school and school break programs returned and doubled in capacity. We moved them to be facilitated directly within Breckenridge and Upper Blue Elementary Schools. These programs now offer a sliding fee scale so that families experiencing financial barriers have easier access to these important programs.

The Mountain Top Explorium Exhibits experienced significant participation at the start of 2024. Everyday we welcomed visiting and local families to learn and explore. Along with the increased participation we’re thankful for all of our new members which has almost tripled in a few short months. It’s been so much fun getting to know our visitors.

In addition, we've launched a new program, Explorium Playdates, which offers families a chance to bond over hands-on activities. Each Wednesday at 10a, we offered a story and craft activity. We’re looking forward to continuing to increase the number of Explorium Playdates each week.

What’s Next?

None of this would be possible without our dedicated team. If you visited, emailed, or called the Explorium you have been lucky enough to meet Emma, Gloria, Liam, Amy, Lori, or Dave. With more staff we’re getting ready for more programs. Here’s a quick list of some of the exciting things you can experience in the next few months.

Mud Season STEM: Every Tuesday and Thursday from April 23 to May 16th at 10a we’ll be hosting new and unique Explorium Playdates.

Kids Movie Day: Join the Explorium and Breck Film at the Eclipse Theater on April 27 for a FREE program featuring short films and craft activities.

Family Connectedness: On Tuesday April 30th at 5:30p we’re partnering with Building Hope for a free event, allowing local parents a chance to connect and unwind. While Explorium staff entertains the kids, courtesy of Castaways, parents can enjoy a well-deserved break and mingle with other parents. Sign Up Today for this Free Event

Volunteer Day: We’ll be closing the Explorium Exhibit Space on May 21 & 22nd so that we can clean, remodel, and paint. We are seeking kids and adults for a two day volunteer event where we will be completing light carpentry, painting, and cleaning of Mountain Top Explorium.

Summer Camp: We still have a few spots available for select days of our summer day camp. We’re excited to have many new themes and activities each day this summer.

We can’t thank everyone enough for helping Mountain Top Explorium as we relish in our past success and look to a bright future. Please reach out if you have new ideas or would like to chat about how you can be more involved.

Stay tuned for more updates, and until then, happy exploring!
